Quiet Thoughts, Oil 29" x 20" $2650

In this painting, the buildings have been reduced to simple geometric forms comprised of triangles and rectangles.  These forms interlock and unite to form a large stable geometric form.  The format of the painting is a vertical rectangle and is further divided into repeating rectangular shapes of land and water.  This division of space creates a very still composition that implies contemplative meditation.  The temporal elements of building and land are juxtaposed with a mysterious ephemeral cloud contrasting what is permanent and what is transient in our lives.  The subdued yellow of the sky is balanced and completed by the dusky purple buildings resting on an olive green patch of ground.   A peaceful atmosphere is created through the soft transitions of color and value that invites reflection on the regenerative power of solitude.
